I left the 9-5 life behind for freelancing

That’s riiiiiight. Although I registered by business back in 2023, I officially turned my attention to freelancing in September of this year.

Naturally, there have been moments of doubt, but overall, I definitely made the right decision.

I wake up excited about doing stuff. I love my slow mornings, taking longer walks with our dog without a sense of existential dread, and having the time to build my brand while I help others with theirs.

I’ve been fortunate to have excellent clients at the start of this journey, and even when it was more of a side hustle for me, I had nothing but positive experiences.

I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to take this time to rest, recover from burnout, and bet on myself. It’s been so rewarding to do work I enjoy, connect/reconnect with people who “get” content marketing and appreciate my expertise, and have complete control over my schedule. It’s something I’ve been wanting for a long time and I’m thrilled that my time has come.

I’m essentially giving myself the next year to really grind and go hard with growing this business. At that point, I’ll take a moment to evaluate where it’s something I can/want to continue with, or if I should return to the 9-5 life.

For the record, there’s nothing wrong with working a 9 to 5… I did it for pretty much a decade. I’ve met amazing folks at work, built up an incredible network, and learned a lot about myself and what I want (and don’t want) in terms of career.

By going freelance, I’m just in pursuit of a different type of learning. I’m also going to see how much I can push myself (in a healthy way).

I’m looking forward to documenting the journey here, and I thank you for dropping by!
